Neil Armstrong Biography

Hi! People I didn't know what to put here so i'll show you my biography about Neil Armstrong enjoy!

Neil Armstrong was an astronaut and aeronautical engineer, he was also the first man to walk on the moon on the Apollo 11 mission. He was born on the 5th of August 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio, United States. He was the son of Stephen Armstrong and Viola Armstrong, He had two siblings Dean and June Armstrong. He had a masters degree of Aeronautical engineering from the university of Southern California. He was first a Navy pilot from 1949-1952, after that he was a test pilot, that was when he was chosen to be an astronaut. Neil’s first wife was Janet Shearon, they were married for 38 years from 28th of January 1956 until the 12th of April 1994, His second wife was Carol Held Knight they were married from 1994-2012. Neil had three children Mark, Eric and Karen Armstrong.

In the 17th of July 1969 Apollo 11 was launched with Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Buzz Aldrin. The apollo 11 lasted 8 days, 3 hours, 18 minutes and 35 seconds, but  Neil and Buzz only spent 21 hours and 36 minutes on the moon. The Apollo astronauts woke up early on july 24, 1969 for their trip back to earth, at 12:21 p.m. they separated from the command module to the “service module”. They were on the Command module Colombia. Colombia entered earth's atmosphere at 12:35 p.m. The communications were interrupted by the supercharged atmosphere surrounding the aircraft. But they still landed safely southwest of Honolulu and a couple miles from the recovery ship USS Hornet. This wasn’t Neil’s first mission, his first mission was actually Gemini 8. Shortly after the Apollo 11 mission Neil said that he wouldn’t plan on flying in space again, he resigned from NASA in 1971. In 1995 an expedition leader Mike Dunn Invited Neil to an organised trip named The Great Explorers to the North Pole.

On August 7, 2012 Neil had a Bypass surgery to relieve blocked coronary arteries, He was reported recovering well, but he developed some complications at the hospital, That's what led to his death on August 25, 2012. Neil Armstrong said “One step man, A giant leap mankind” that means your small actions today will make a better tomorrow.

Thank you for reading. What do you think about Neil Armstrong?

Swimming sports

Hi! so about two weeks ago we had swimming sports.
I did 25m freestyle and 25m backstroke. I think for my first race I came in 5th place I really can't remember. On of my friends (Cleo) did 50m freestyle 50m backstroke, and now an interview with Cleo of how it felt after.
"It felt like I was about to have a mental breakdown but my body wouldn't let me to"
I don't know what else to talk about so I'm sorry for this late and short blog post bye!

2019 school year goals

Hi! This is a little late but better late than never.

What are my goals this year?
-try and finish stuff earlier
-Make sure to listen to the instructions.
-Make sure my work is done.
-work better in groups

so those are some of the things that I got of the top of my head but I probably have a lot more.

Swimming lessons

Hi! humans i'm back and we have had 2 weeks of swimming lessons, for the last 3 days we had swim safety, for the first day of swim safety we used life jackets and made huddles to keep us warm, on the second day we used the life bots, we learned how to get off them properly and keep warm. on the third and final day, we had our pyjama day that meant we had to get in the pool in our pyjamas, we also had to try to save people who were "drowning".

What was my favourite part?
I learned a lot the past 2 weeks but I have to say that getting on the boats and being in that kind of scenario was fun to learn and it got us prepared for whatever happens in the future.

Thanks for reading!

P.B.L Presentations

Coming up next week is our Tumu hub presentations. Our presentations are based on different celebrations around the world. My group decided to do Holi day. Holi day is a festival of colours. They dance and have bonfires but the main reason of Holi day is the throwing of the different coloured powders. The colours mean different things like Red reflects love and green reflects the start of new spring.

PBL Term 4

This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?

First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance MnMs for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because we had more experience and we knew the basic things that we had to do.

In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.

Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product? Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team made this Race track out of cardboard, tape, and popsicle sticks.

Reflection

My highlight from this PBL was our Market day because it was really fun getting to see what other people have made and their ideas.

Next time I would change nothing because I think we did a good job because we had teamwork making our product and market day.
